Joondalup Hobbies ProAm Print E-mail

The 49 entrants who turned up for the Joondalup Hobbies ProAm enjoyed the changes to the track layout, and even with it being held the weekend before the Nationals in Sth Australia, most of the regulars turned up for some close racing. Hot Bodies driver Ian Haley was in town from Queensland, and as always was a welcome addition to the line-up, racing his truggy. Jaicob Mann probably wasn't so happy about it, finishing 2nd but still an excellent achievement for the young driver. Another youngster on the podium in Buggy Sportsman class was Kyle Francis. The future of RC in WA looks good when you see these young guys doing so well. All in all, another great day of racing, well done to all who attended.

AKA Tyres WA Championships Jan 23rd / 24th Print E-mail

The AKA Tyres WA championships was a feast of excellent racing. We are blessed to have so many of Australia's top drivers resident at our club, and racing against this caliber of driver can't help but make us mere mortal drivers improve. And that showed this weekend, with many drivers putting in impressive performances. Andrew Foord travelled over from Sth Australia, and was rewarded for his efforts with a trophy. Team Hobao picked up two, with Josh Taylor also collecting some silverware, but super-consistent Martin Wolhuter took out top spot with his Hong Nor. Shane Angelinovch rose up through the ranks to finish an impressive 4th with his Mugen.

Young Jaicob Mann decided to take up truggy this year, and in his first major meeting with his Xray, he won the 45min main final with a very consistent drive. Trevor Whiting stayed on his tail the whole race, but wasn't able to chase him down. Murray Beattie held 3rd place for some time before mechanical failure, allowing several drivers to fight it our for this spot. Gennaro Caputti managed to head off Ian Silfo and Darren Gandy, the latter pushing hard to make up ground after a breakdown early on in the race.

Midweek track access suspended Print E-mail

Midweek track access is suspended until further notice while its hot, and possibly for the rest of the summer. Its just not worth the risk to the club, and the Park. If any member or visitor is caught at the track while this suspension is in place, it will be an immediate ban from the club for one year. If a committee member is available midweek, then I will allow them to open the gate for members if the Fire Danger Index (FDI) allows it. If the FDI is over 40 then the track is closed... please view here http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/wa/forecasts/fireswlanddiv.shtml
